2013 Ford Super Duty Platinum

Ford recently invited us out to Detroit, Michigan to preview the ?13 Super Duty Platinum, which is an all-new model in the Super Duty lineup. With the popularity of Ford?s King Ranch trim level, Ford decided to offer an equally luxurious version for those who want upscale appointments, but don?t have a Stetson on the hat rack. The Platinum model, currently available on the F-150, was a natural direction. Consider it a competitor to GMC?s Denali and you get the idea.

On the Super Duty, the Platinum trim level can be spotted by use of raised ?Platinum? lettering on the cargo box sides, a satin tailgate appliqu?, a unique satin-chrome grille with distinctive mesh detailing, monochromatic bumpers, and exclusive bright work on the mirrors, door handles, side sidesteps and towhooks. Also new are unique seven-spoke 20-inch wheels.

Inside, the Platinum welcomes with premium leather trim, in either charcoal or pecan, and has perforated seat inserts with embroidered seatbacks. Seats are heated and cooled in the front row, with ten-way power operation. A heated steering wheel with genuine Walnut swirl wood greets the hands and the redesigned dashboard adds a woodgrain appliqu? and features a more prominent center stack with larger, easy-to-use buttons and an 8-inch touch screen, which also handles the video from the reverse camera.

Standard on the Platinum is Ford?s complete technology suite, which includes a much needed upgrade to the MyFord Touch system, navigation with HD Radio, and Sync. On top of the center stack is a new storage bin with two USB ports, 12V charging port, and audio/video connectors.

While the above features will all be standard fare on the Platinum, many of them, including the redesigned instrument panel, will make their way down through the rest of the Super Duty line. The Platinum is available in five colors: Ruby Red Metallic, White Platinum Metallic Tri-coat, Tuxedo Black Metallic, and Ingot Silver Metallic.

So what else can we expect from the ?13 Ford Super Duty lineup? Ford says it has no other details to release at this time, but we wouldn?t be surprised to see another bump in capability to keep the heavy-duty truck market competitive. Pricing for the Platinum hasn?t been announced, but you can be sure it will be comparable to a loaded King Ranch.
