Here's what's bad about my current site:
- Ugly. I can tell you whether or not I think a site looks good, but, like most people, I'm not a trained graphic designer, so when I try to design myself the results are less than ideal.
- Too much competing for attention, especially on the home page.?
- Side panels load too slowly. (Maybe that's just on my computer, but I doubt it.)
- Not search engine optimized. I write what strikes me as important or interesting, without checking to be sure I'm using my key keywords. Tut, tut.?
Here's what's good about my current site:
- Content. There is a lot of good content in here, if I do say so myself.?
- Age. You can see that I've been at this for a long time. I know what I'm talking about.?
- Personal. I'm not trying to hide behind a corporate persona. I must confess, it took me a while to be comfortable with that. But now I love it!
- Useful features (if you find them). An alphabetical topic list (though it is too long), a search box, related articles links, a translation tool (surtout pour les francophones!)
I could doubtless add to both lists, but you get the picture.?
Do you have any specific recommendations for the new site? What would you like to see in there??
